Most natal astrology courses (and I've taken a lot of them) are excellent at covering the astrological concepts - the planets, the signs, etc. But where they fall down is pulling all of that together so that you can actually use your natal chart as a map that reveals the purpose of your life and the gifts you have to share with the world.

In this astrology foundations course, I will cover all of those fundamental concepts that you would expect, but with an extra emphasis on synthesis. You will learn to interpret your chart as a whole - your personal astro blueprint - so that you can identify your strengths and weaknesses, what you are here to do, and live out the promise of your natal astrology. 

The course is designed for both beginners and those with some astrology experience who want to deepen their understanding.

What to Expect:

Monthly Live Zoom Lessons: Interactive sessions where we cover the materials together and answer questions. These will be recorded if you can't make it live. Throughout the live sessions, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive personalised feedback, ensuring you fully grasp the material and feel confident interpreting your chart. The live session recordings will be added to the course portal as we go along, so that you can access them whenever you need to. 

Instant Access to the Course Portal: You’ll have access to the course portal where you will find materials in a variety of formats, including written lessons, slides, and videos, so you can learn in the way that suits you best. You can mark things complete so that it's easy to track your progress. 

Community Space: There will be a course community space where you can interact with fellow students, ask questions, and share insights. If you can’t attend the live sessions, you can post your questions in the community, and I’ll make sure they get answered during the sessions or directly in the group.

Student Chart Examples: Your chart may be used as a teaching tool (with your permission). 

Lifetime Access: All lessons, recordings, and future updates will be available to you in your course portal forever. 

Future Invites: Join live sessions of future course runs at no extra cost.

Course Duration: Similar courses are often taught over three terms across a year (for three times the price), but we will cover everything in around five months. I find this is better for keeping everyone engaged and excited about the learning. However, I will add an extra month if needed to ensure all students fully understand their chart. I am committed to everyone getting the support they need.

Course Content and Structure

This course is structured around the Four Pillars of Astrology, and you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of how these pillars - the planets, signs, houses, and aspects - come together to construct the story of your natal chart (and your life). 

Below is a summary of what is covered in each module:

Module 1: Laying the Foundations

• Introduction to astrology and generating your birth chart
• Overview of the four pillars
• Resources and reading list

Module 2: Pillar 1: The Planets

• Deep dive into each planet’s role in your chart, from the Sun to Pluto
• Learn how each planet's energy appears in different areas of your life

Module 3: Pillar 2: The Signs

• Overview of the zodiac signs and how they manifest in your chart
• Explore the unique energy and influence of each sign

Module 4: Pillar 3: The Houses

• Understand the 12 houses and how they shape different aspects of your life
• Learn to read empty houses and identify your chart ruler

Module 5: Pillar 4: The Aspects

• How planets interact through major and minor aspects
• Explore elemental and modal patterns in your chart

Module 6: Constructing Meaning: Bringing it All Together

• Chart synthesis: Combining all elements to create a cohesive interpretation (this is an area which is often trickier to grasp and not always taught well, so we will go deep with this)
• Case studies and practice applying your knowledge
• Using your chart as a map for personal growth and direction

What You’ll Need:

*Your birth date, time, and place (as accurate as possible).

*A willingness to participate in chart discussions, though you can opt-out of having your own chart used as an example if you prefer.

*You may also want to get a journal, notebook or folder specially for this course. We will be covering a lot of ground and you may want a dedicated space to record your learning, insights and breakthroughs. 

*The ability to access the course portal and zoom, either on desktop or mobile

About Me: Your Teacher, Jessica Starr

I’ve been a serious student of astrology since the mid-1990s, though I’ve only fully embraced the title of “astrologer” since 2020 (thanks imposter syndrome and late-diagnosed AuDHD).

My journey began with a copy of Jonathan Cainer's "Psychic Explorer", which opened my eyes to the depth of astrology beyond just Sun signs. That discovery sparked years of drawing up charts by hand, poring over the meanings of planets, signs, and houses, and deepening my understanding of how astrology mirrors the energies that weave through our lives. Today, software makes generating charts so much easier, but the thrill of finding patterns and synchronicities never gets old. 

My own natal chart reflects my path before I was even aware of it: with Jupiter and Venus in Cancer in the 10th house (along with my Midheaven), I’ve always been drawn to creating nurturing spaces where people can gather to do transformational inner-work. People are often drawn to the divine feminine energy I bring to my work, sensing that I can hold that sacred space for them as they open up to new levels on their spiritual journey.

For over two decades, I’ve lived in tune with the moon, a beautiful and apt connection, given my Taurus Moon and its mutual reception with my Venus in the 10th house. I also have Sun and Mercury in Gemini in my 9th house, which gives me a gift for communication, flexible thinking, and the ability to teach complex concepts in an engaging way.

If these connections don't make any sense, or the astrology language is unfamiliar, don’t worry, it will all make perfect sense by the end of the course!

Why Take this Course (and not another one)?

• Hands-on Guidance: This is not a DIY course. Yes, the information in the modules is all there ready for you to dive into, but how many "do this at your own pace" courses have you bought and then never finished? (Not calling anyone out, I do this too, which is why I wanted this course to be different). So Astrology Foundations follows a hybrid approach where you can work through the modules in your own time, but we also have monthly live sessions to go deeper into the syllabus and answer any questions. You will also get insights on your natal chart if you are ok with it being used as a teaching example (I will try and include everyone who wants their chart to be used).
